MOVEMENT

A MOVEMENT

As a hands-on nonprofit charitable organization committed to working with organizations, agencies, elected officials, survivors, and real time victims to decrease the amount of times victims return to their abusers which happens to be an astonishing rate of 7-12 times; it is our belief that lengthening and strengthening how we support survivors is the key.

AGAINST

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE

LENGTHENING & STRENGHTNING

Coming to the table by choice and not force to make a difference in what should be considered a community epidemic.

A two-year platform that supports a victim into survivorship will decrease the amount of times a victim returns which will can have a domino effect on lowering isolation, depression, embarrassment, financial loss, generational abuse, and even deaths.

Forums such as this, DV sensitivity training, and all community endeavors unite us in efforts to avoid temporary bandages and focus more on casts. Casts are used to immobilize injuries, promote healing, and reduce pain and further injuries while the injury heals.

We believe that there should be a unified understanding that the high rate of victims returning an average of 7-12 times to their abusers suggests there is a breakdown within our system. Unfortunately the healing process doesn’t necessarily begin when a victim of abuse is finally away from their abuser. Most victims don’t even realize the extent of their abuse until months later once considering the other types of abuse they endured such as; mentally, verbally, emotionally, financially, spiritually, and sexually abused in addition to the physical abuse. If we decrease the victim returning statistics it lowers the amount of isolation, embarrassment, generational abuse, and deaths.

THE STRENGTH OF SURVIVORS

SNMM has built relationships with survivors that span up to 30 years.

It is a SNMM unified belief survivors of different ages, backgrounds, statuses, and races continually inspire each other while providing hope and a glimpse into life without abuse.

Throughout the year in realtime survivors not only advocating for themselves,, they advocate for you.

THE VALUE OF SUPPORT SYSTEMS

A unified understanding that domestic violence and human trafficking is a community epidemic

Survivors and support systems, business owners, and the community banning together Domestic violence is a pattern of abusive behavior in any relationship that is used by one partner to gain or maintain power and control over another intimate partner. Domestic violence can be actions or threats of physical, sexual, emotional, economic, psychological or technological actions or other patterns of coercive behavior that influence another person within an intimate partner relationship.

COMING TO THE TABLE BY CHOICE AND NOT FORCE

THE Loudoun County Board OF Supervisors to Host SNMM Domestic Violence Sensitivity Training

Loudoun County Chairwoman Phyllis J. Randall, along with Algonkian District Supervisor Juli E. Briskman, Leesburg District Supervisor Kristen Umstattd, and Broad Run District Supervisor Sylvia Glass, are demonstrating their dedication to supporting domestic violence victims by a new sensitivity training program.

The Silence No More Movement (SNMM) sensitivity training, created by advocate Lisa Jones, offers an interactive educational experience aimed at enhancing community support systems for survivors of domestic violence.

SURVIVOR & SUPPORT SYSTEM CEREMONY

SNMM is a believer that there are different levels of support systems for real-time victims and survivors, such as friends, family, coworkers, community members, organizations, and agencies, who are sometimes there long before the police and attorneys.

Survivors are instrumental in motivating and refueling survivors who utilize their past experiences to help empower others.

Annually this ceremony recognizes survivors that circle back to help strengthen victims and current survivors. Directly and indirectly due to commitment to community, excellence, and the highest standards of ethical conduct, integrity, and civic and social responsibility.
